Course name: Residential photography workshops for beginner photographers

Location: Mazzard Farm, Ottery St Mary, East Devon

​

Course description: Looking to improve your photography skills? Join me for a weekend photography workshop at Mazzard Farm, located in the stunning East Devon countryside. This residential workshop is perfect for beginners looking to move beyond taking simple snapshots and capture beautiful landscape photos. With a small group of up to six students, you'll receive personalized instruction over two days. We'll cover everything from composition and lighting to editing and post-processing. Plus, we'll venture out into the surrounding area to put your new skills to the test and capture stunning shots of the East Devon coast and countryside (weather permitting, of course!).

 

Course length: Friday evening to Sunday late afternoon (you can also stay Sunday night if you wish)

Who is it for? Beginner photographers 

​

What you'll need: Any compact, bridge, mirrorless or DSLR

camera (any camera with manual settings)

Your trainer: Professional Devon photographer, Gary Holpin Photography

Price: £379 (pay just £125 deposit to secure your place)

What's included? 3 nights accommodation, 15 hours of training over 2 days, some meals and drinks, course pack, free follow-ups with tutor.

Beautiful locations

One of the best things about being a Devon photographer is having the excuse to get out and enjoy so much beautiful scenery (you can read about my photography journey here). On my photography workshops I will make sure that I take you to some beautiful locations, so that as well as learning photography, you can also enjoy some of the natural beauty of Devon.

Transport

Transport from local rail station (Honiton) may be available on request. Transport during the training (to photo shoots at the local coast) can usually be accommodated by sharing cars.

Groups are limited to a maximum of six students

Accommodation is in a in self contained holiday cottage.You may need to share the cottage with one other person of the same sex (with your own bedroom, but sharing other facilities).

Refreshments

A welcome meal on the Friday evening is included in the fee. A breakfast hamper and tea and coffee making facilities are also provided. You will need to arrange your own refreshments for the remainder of the weekend, but we can provide plenty of ideas of options, and often students get together to eat as a group.

Training

Training time is normally 9.30 am until

5.00 pm on both Saturday and Sunday. The rest of the time is yours to explore the local area, or chill in your comfortable cottage accommodation.

Payment

A £125 deposit is required at the time of booking in order to secure your place. The balance is due 28 days before the date of the course. Please see our cancellation policy (in the FAQ's) and consider taking out travel insurance.

Weekend itinerary & what you'll learn

FRIDAY

  • Late afternoon: Arrive at Mazzard Farm & check into your cottage

  • Evening (around 7 pm): Meet and greet meal at a local Ottery St Mary pub

SATURDAY

  • 9.30 am: Training session at Mazzard Farm

  • 1.30 pm: Location shoot at Sidmouth, including the Clock Tower challenge!

  • 3.30 pm: Back to Mazzard Farm to review and discuss your photos

  • 5.00pm: Finish for the day
